Case study template B

Based on the model involving three intersecting sets - organisation/technology/pedagogy  - is a snapshot

organisation

- role of e-learning in the institutional strategy?

- structures in place for support and development - eg Info services dept, learning technologists, staff development, time for lecturers, QA etc

- how far embedded?

etc

pedagogy

- role of technology in teaching?

- impact on courses

- approaches to teaching - examples...

- changes in ways courses are offered - time/geog etc, flexibility

- impact on students and tutors

etc

technology

- infrastructure in place?

- systems in use? - vles, web 2.0 tools etc

- adaptability/flexibility/future proofing - approach to new techs - soa??

- development

- technical support

etc

summary/benefits/issues could be collated from the above here?

Case study template C

A socio-technical perspective on the adoption of technology (in this case e-learning) - tells a story rather than a snapshot - could be at course or institutional level -

why? - what was your reason for doing this?

what was the context? - how did you do things before? (characteristics of course/institution - numbers, what was in place etc)

technological options - what technologies/tools were available to you?

requirements - what did you want to be able to do? (your vision ...)

design -  what did you decide to do and how was it going to work? (the plan...)

implementation - how did you put your design in place? ( the process of doing this)

embedding - how did you get everyone up and running and working - (includes people, courses, support, training, evaluating etc)

summary/reflection - this is where the benefits etc could go
